Chidi Ugwu holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Nigeria where he also teaches social anthropology and research methods.

He also holds a guest-lectureship position in the University of Melbourne (Indigenous and Tribal Peoples’ Health).

He is a research fellow of the African Population and Health Research Center (Nairobi) and the American Council of Learned Societies, with interests in kinship studies, religious systems, and the political economy of public health.
