George Emeka Agbo teaches in the Department of Fine and Applied Arts, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

He is a former Andrew Mellon Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for Humanities Research (CHR)/History Department, University of the Western Cape (UWC), South Africa; winner of the 2015 Ivan Karp Doctoral Research Award of CHR, UWC and Laney Graduate School, Emory University; and a 2017 Africa-Oxford (AfOx) Visiting Scholar, University of Oxford.

His scholarly work focuses on photographic production and circulation across a range of platforms, and how they connect with history, art, and politics in Africa.

His visual art practice is an intersection of digital graphics, photography, and printmaking.
